Featured Learning Objectives:
- Differentiate between legitimate immigration processes and fraudulent schemes commonly seen in both business and family contexts, drawing on real examples from 22 years of immigration practice.
- Spot vulnerabilities in employer compliance systems — including I-9 completion, document verification, and E-Verify use — that can create opportunities for fraud and expose organizations to liability.
- Understand how government enforcement works in practice — including ICE audits, FDNS site visits, and fraud referrals — and what fraud examiners and auditors can expect when these investigations occur.
- Analyze common fraud patterns (such as sham marriages, fake job offers, or falsified credentials) that impact employers and intersect with compliance programs.
- Apply proactive strategies that companies and compliance professionals can adopt to reduce risk, strengthen internal controls, and respond effectively to immigration-related audits or investigations.
