Brian Canty is a Special Agent with the United States Fish and Wildlife Service - Office of Law Enforcement (FWS), assigned to the Richmond, VA office. In addition to serving the FWS, Brian spent ten years as a Special Agent with the United States Treasury Department. Brian is a native of Kentucky. He obtained a bachelor's degree in Spanish from Western Kentucky University and a Juris Doctorate from the Chase College of Law at Northern Kentucky University.

Learning Objectives: Wildlife Trafficking is a global threat to wildlife populations and economic markets. It undermines the rule of law and threatens wildlife, including some of the world's most iconic species. Wildlife Trafficking is often perpetrated by organized crime syndicates and has close ties to other illegal activities, such as human trafficking and drug smuggling. In this presentation we hope to raise awareness of wildlife trafficking and point out ways individuals and organizations can better recognize threats to wildlife and financial markets.
